The painting shows “Teatime” for the maintenance crew of the shunting engine on the headshunt ramp which is now Viaduct Estate Road .
The goods locomotive ,shown on it’s return journey, was seconded from the Cleator Moor iron ore mine by the Whitehaven chemical works & harbour authority, to ship toluene to the ammunition works at Gretna.
