D-Day 6th June 1944

Coastal Command 404 (Buffalo Squadron)Royal Canadian Air Force

Based at RAF Davidstow Moor Cornwall, were assigned to cover the Western approaches to the English Channel to protect the Western flank of the invading D-Day forces from being attacked by German shipping.

The Sqaudron included Crosby on Eden, Coastal Command OTU trained Beaufighter Pilots, who on that day saved the lives of  hundreds of the allied forces as the commenced operation “Overlord” the

On that day they sank one and disabled two “Narvik” class destroyers.

They also sank two armoured merchant coasters
